Review: 'VARIOUS ARTISTS'
'TROJAN SOUND SYSTEM'

-  Label: 'SANCTUARY'
-  Genre: 'Reggae' -  Release Date: 'June 2006'

Our Rating:
Formed back in 2004 from London Sound System legends- Trojan Sound System does what it says on the tin. Consisting of sixteen classic and rare reggae tracks this is a smooth, gentle and laid back compilation perfect for listening to on a hot sunny afternoon in the park.

Featuring the likes of Harry J And The Allstars, the Heptones and yep, you guessed it Bob Marley, this is a perfect introduction to reggae, as well as a wonderful reminder of all the tracks that made reggae so great in the first place.

for further listening, one could do a lot worse than get a hold of the 'Work Your Soul' compilation of Trojan/Studio one releases that showcases the soulful side of both labels and also capitalises on the immense and stunning production techniques both employed.

Also recommended is I-Roy's 'Don't Check Me With No Lightweight Stuff', a 1972-75 compilation on Blood & Fire (BAFCD016)that showcases some of the artist's finest work, that someone has gone to great pains to digitally remaster without losing any of the raw impact whatsoever....shortened comments
