Review: 'SWIPE'
'MERCY ME'

-  Label: 'POP WILL PREVAIL'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '23rd October 2006'

Our Rating:
‘Mercy Me’ is the debut single from indie-pop combo Swipe. Too involved to be minimal, yet too minimal too be involved, and taking far too long to warm up, this, unfortunately is not as promised, “the future of music”.

‘Mercy Me’ uses basic but effective riffs, placed alongside clockwork beats and a basic but appealing vocal which does build and grow in places but fails to explode as and when it should and more to the point could. Albeit a grower, thankfully and contrary to the lyrics, “But it never stops, no it never stops” it eventually does. But if you like harmless bedroom indie-pop with a hint of experimental kookiness, this is the one for you.
