Review: 'GOOSE'
'Bring It On'

-  Label: 'Skint'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '12 Februray 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'brassic42cd'

Our Rating:
Goose are a Belgian four piece signed to Norman Cook's Brighton based Skint records.

Musically they inhabit a territory somewhwere between Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and Gary Numan.
Essentially this is crowd pleasing electro-dance music which doesn't set out to innovate but makes for a genial, uncomplicated party popper.

The instrumental tracks work best such as the punchy opener Black Gloves and the short Teutonic Check. These have strong robotic grooves which are pretty much the flavour of the album as a whole. The vocal tracks are less successful due to pedestrian lyrics - "You ought to be announced in history" ! - and the emotionless delivery.

Electronic pop doesn't necessarily call for a screamadelic front man but here the lack of personality borders on the anonymous. Only on the bonus track Audience do they rock out with any conviction and more of this energy would have given a greater depth and variety to the album.

For 'Pestestrian Lyrics' read acid-styled mantras from the rave era!! LOL I loved this to absolute bits and pieces, and would say that it blows away so much of the so-called contemporary synthesiser fiddling that it is impossible to ignore

All depends if you're a dance music heid though, eh no
?
