This is the sort of music an old heavy metaller would end up composing once he lost the will to run around on stage with pyrotechnics ablaze. Sitting with his missus and writing strange little stories on a lute to perform in school halls and country fair’s. Perhaps he’ll wear a black cape in order to keep the mystery alive. Maybe even a pointed beard.
The truth is that this isn’t bad. Its well performed and obviously done with a lot of heart, but it's all a bit twee.
As much as I want to like it, I find myself imagining the writer sitting beside the hearth with his missus knitting next to him scribbling down strange little stories of gatekeepers and dragons then dragging his missus out to duet with him for bored punters at the village fete.
Bless ‘em.
