'Jeans goes POP!' is the adopted moniker of Northumberland-born one man band Paul Jeans.
He plays piano, guitar, percussion and creates a debut collection of eleven unashamedly catchy pop tunes with a warm Buggles meets the Beatles quality - the Fab element being more McCartney than Lennon.
It is a slickly produced radio friendly album which is for the most part too polished for its own good.
Significantly, one of the standout tracks is also the shortest and simplest - 'Sweeping Up For California' where Jeans sounds a little like Eels' Mr E. The minimalism of the voice and piano arrangement is a relief when contrasted with the bigger numbers like the opener (The World At Your Heals) or I Thought You'd Try (featuring Beth Jeans Houghton on guest vocals) which try a little too hard to be showstoppers.

A song title like 'Stop Me Falling Into The Void' suggests a darker content but turns out to be quite a bouncy number and even lines like "all my life, never been so miserable" on 'Technicolor' are delivered in a jaunty manner.
Overall, this relentless feel good factor is okay consumed in small doses but gets tiresome over the course of 45 minutes.
