Review: 'GRAINBELT'
'TROUBLE COMING DOWN'

-  Label: 'Kranepool Records'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '11th September 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'KP018'

Our Rating:
Grainbelt of Albany,New York play Roots rock with a hint of Cowpunk or as the band themselves say "spot the Hank Williams/Joe Stummer influence and win a stuffed animal".

How Glassman ("vocals, guitars, marching orders") formed in 2005 from the remnants of Coal Palace Kings, three of the four bandsmen being from that band - only bassman Chris Blackwell being a new recruit. Pretty well a case of same sound different name.

Self explanatory song titles like 'A Little Faith Goes A Long Way' and 'The Drugs Don't Seem To Be Working" sum up their modus operandi.

They are a hard working, no nonsense band who are never likely to be rich and famous and are doubtless resigned to this harsh truth already.

This is an honest set of songs nonetheless that should at least meet a more modest ambition of keeping them in beer money.
