Review: 'MONEY TRAIN'
'Heartbreaker 1/9'

-  Label: 'Matchbox Recordings (www.moneytrainonline.com)'
-  Genre: 'Hip-Hop' -  Release Date: '23rd March 2009'

Our Rating:
Money Train are a US "hip-hop" duo based in the UK. Heartbreaker 1/9 is their new album.

While some of the production and beats on this album are quite good, and it is all very polished, commercial and mainstream enough to be marketable, Money Train wheel out every hip-hop cliche imaginable. The lyrics are misogynistic, shallow and worse(?) boring. Whatever happened to politically aware hip-hop, or at least hip-hop with something to say?

The reason hip-hop has, in some quarters, a bad name is because of music like this. There is a certain demographic, oozing unwarranted machismo which will probably like this, but I'm going to cleanse my ears with some Dilated Peoples...

Must try harder.
