Breathing Exercises is a taster for the new Strike The Colours album "Seven Roads", due in September. I am fortunate to have one of the very limited number of lovingly (and lovely) handmade editions which you might be able to get your hands on if you are quick.

For those of you who do not know, Strike The Colours are the brainchild of the wonderfully talented Jenny Reeve, along with various collaborators.

"Breathing Exercises" (the song) is a folk-influenced number, with touches of violin and restrained marching drums, that builds to a crescendo of stringed loveliness.

Second song "Rusted" is in similar folk-influenced indie territory, but is built around a plucked acoustic guitar melody. Recorded on an 8-track, it is endearingly lo-fi.

While lots of artist are working with similar ingredients, what sets Strike The Colours apart are Reeve's beautiful voice, intelligent lyrics and quite simply, the excellent songs.
