Review: 'MARMADUKE DUKE'
'Silhouettes (Jacknife Lee Remix)'

-  Label: '14th Floor'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '6th July 2009'

Our Rating:
You want energy? This single packs it in abundance. Yowsa! Must be at least 220bpm! Faster and more electronic than the original version, Jacknife Lee has enhanced the existing groove factor and ratcheted it up to the max. The result: frenetic electro programming melds with poppy vocals to produce a number that’s driving, relentless and – I say this as someone who abhors clubbing – 100% danceable. When I say 100% danceable, I mean it’s so infectious that I’d challenge even the most curmudgeonly rock purist to keep their feet entirely still for the whole duration of this track.

It’s certainly a significant departure from the day-job for Simon Neil, who’s more commonly found fronting Biffy Clyro. But combining comedic fake lore and mysticism with a knack for catchy tunes, infused with a distinctly Scots flavour, there’s a very real possibility that Marmaduke Duke could be the KLF for the new millennium. Don’t believe me? Check the outfits...
