Review: 'HAUNTS'
'Love is Blind E.P.'

-  Label: 'Black Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '3rd August 2009 (Download Only)'

Our Rating:
Ah, there's nothing like a good cliche. And 'love is blind' is, indeed, nothing like a good cliche. Boom boom! If I was being harsh, I might add that love would also have to be deaf to find merit in this mediocre indie slop, but in fairness, it's not nearly as bad as all that. There's an endearing raggedness to the vocals and a swaggering rhythm, countered by a fuzzy synth that's actually quite appealing. What's more, the chorus is more than just a little bit catchy.

'Black Eyed Girl' remixed by Black Teeth (in actuality Haunts vocalist Banks and guitarist Alex) is driven along by a thumping fuzzed-out analogue synth and has something of a groove, while L'Amour La Morge's remix of 'Underground' is sweeping and expansive, but would probably do more without the spoken / rapped lyrics that simply sound like they're trying too hard to be a bit urban, innit.

The remix and demo versions of 'Love is Blind' are both rather pointless.
