Review: 'CANTERBURY'
'ELEVEN, TWELVE'

-  Label: 'www.myspace.com/canterbuy'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'November 2009'

Our Rating:
For those of you who enjoy the electro-emo persuasions of Enter Shikari, or for the indie kids who thought The Automatic were nearly onto something, this might be the band for you. On this single, Canterbury have produced some neat, catchy pop-rock that is highly accomplished for a band so young.

'Eleven, Twelve' is a relentless few minutes of layered vocals and drum-heavy rocking out in a radio friendly fashion. For the metallers, there's a nice wall of sound instrumental in the middle and plenty of opportunities to raise your first and fourth digits into the air. They pack a lot into a short song and it's easy to see the appeal.

B-side 'Friends, We're More Like A Gang' is a bit more melodramatic, with the full on electro-chorus, and more metal orientated sound. Again, it's well composed, this time with a little more of the anguished cries that their fans will no doubt relish. The production is slick, and this song would sit happily on the soundtrack of any superhero film you care to think of.

This really isn't my thing, but you have to spot the talent. Have a listen for yourselves as they're sticking a couple of fingers up at Lily Allen and giving their debut away for free. Despite myself and my genre preconceptions, I found something quite enjoyable about this short introduction.
