We recently review Dakota's single 'We Get Along', to much acclaim, and so when the album appeared promptly after it went straight to the top of the listening pile.
Although the band may benefit from a bit of an upgrade in terms of artwork, it's what's on record that counts and musically speaking this was a gem from start to finish. On My Own aptly opens up proceedings to what already might be this year's best breakup album. Wild Child, the band's much lauded former single, then breezes by before Why Don't You Like Me bounds in with its choppy guitars and crunching pop hook.
The title track and new single We Get Along cozy up together before Closure Song makes a befitting appearance to wrap up the record. Heart & Soul is a superb statement of intent, if a little stock in places, that should do especially well on the commercial airwaves.
