Review: 'PENDULUM'
'CRUSH'

-  Label: 'WARNER BROS'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '17th January 2011'

Our Rating:
‘Crush’ is the fourth single release from Pendulum’s ‘Immersion’, and it is the perfect track for blasting away the blues on the dance floor. Whilst I am not a great fan of the drum ‘n’ bass genre, there is little to criticise here, in fact this is the sort of track that I believe that even Gary Numan would want in his repertoire.

Opening with a thunderous crash of acoustic drums and fuzzy bass with synth beats floating above, this jolts the listener right from the outset.

Rob Swire’s lyrics are dark and claustrophobic, and certainly fit the tone of this single:“I was running into the cold light/ Wondering where to go/ To run away, without you.”

The character in this song seems to be undergoing a state of torment from which there’s no release: - “The nightmares I’ve been having have arrived/ They’re changing my future.”

To be perfectly frank, my only disappointment with this was when it ended after three and a half minutes, I’ll be waiting for the extended remix. As stated earlier, I think that this is a great single which will pack dance floors around the country, and one which certainly deserves chart success.
