It's oft said that sex sells, and Ms Manna's MySpace page is plastered with a promo pics from a recent photoshoot of her in various states of undress. Oddly, for all of the pouting in unbuttoned shirts, the shots are decidedly un-raunchy. It's not that there's anything wrong with the girl, and the fact that it's all been done before is neither here nor there. It's just that it smacks of cynical marketing and of going through the motions to shift units.
The same is true of her dismal, lifeless acoustic rendition of Johnny Thunders' song. Stripped of soul, of passion, of, well all the things that made the original, it's just dull mass-market toss. Ok, so it's not nearly as cheap or contrived as Katy Perry's marketing, and at least Manna can sing, but even so...
