Review: 'Monument Valley'
'Tongues EP'

-  Label: 'Tritone / PIAS'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '28th November 2011'

Our Rating:
It may seem like an unusual starting point for a set of songs, but Monument Valley’s Ned Younger, found inspiration in an extensive collection of strangers’ photos he gathered at car boots sales & markets. However, it’s often said that a picture speaks a thousand words, and the grainy black and white images of yesteryear evidently fired his imagination, resulting in four delicately-crafted little ditties.

The narratives he has woven based on those scenes frozen in time are touching, thoughtful, and breathe life into possible pasts and moments that may have been. It might not be entirely my bag, but I know decent songwriting when I hear it.
