Review: 'TAI-HOGAN, ANNA'
'SEEK THE TRUTH'

-  Label: 'GENERATOR'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '28th November 2011'

Our Rating:
If you’ve just read my review of Mike Badger & The Shady Trio’s new double A-side Xmas single, you’ll have noticed the reference to ANNA TAI-HOGAN and probably wondered who she was.

Well, Anna’s debut single ‘Seek The Truth’ (produced by Mike Badger and featuring The Shady Trio) suggests she won’t remain an unknown quantity for long.

‘Seek The Truth’ is striking. While the music itself is funky and feral – pop and rock sure, but straining at obvious leashes – it’s her voice which immediately grabs you. Seductive, soaring and challenging it’s the sort of beauty which will surely bring the likes of Bjork and Kate Bush to the mind of future reviewers, though her octave bending performance on the naked, acoustic B-side ‘My Love’ had me scribbling notes along the lines of ‘female Tim Buckley.'

But whichever way you slice it, this Liverpool-based girl’s gotta whole lotta talent, not to mention a debut album (‘Neilos’) mooted for spring 2012 release. Yummy. Bring it on.
