The Greenwood brothers from Sheffield specialise in un-cheery reflections on broken dreams, faded hopes and lost causes but seem driven by the grim adage of Samuel Beckett to "fail again- fail better".
After two previous EPs - Hope And Despair; Fear And Failure (both released in 2011) - they now tackle Truth And Regret.
Now, as before, their stripped back sound features nothing more than one voice and one instrument (Adam plays guitar or bass, Leigh sings).
The self-imposed discipline of this minimalist structure mirrors the narrowness of the lives documented in their songs.
In Our Little House there's the quiet desperation of a couple who "watch other lives on little screens" while on Sleep Alone a man is terrified that a settled life and normal relationship will reduce him to "a blank inside a frame".
The most striking track is Ambulance which recounts the regret of a paramedic's fruitless attempt to revive a woman involved in a motorway accident ("she's the girl I couldn't save").
The subtext to these tales of anguish or of falling in and out of love is that truth leads to pain and loss.

Secret Matters Of The Heart tells of the end of once close couple while the exit music of Waltz With Her comes with more regrets, this time over an unrequited young love.
Leigh Greenwood's plaintive voice is a perfect match for this bleak subject matter.
Adam wisely eschews the temptation to show off his power chords, content for his percussive guitar notes to act as subtle punctuation for his brother's words.
It's dark, sinister and very effective.
As with the previous two EPs it contains five tracks and doesn't reach the fifteen minute mark.
Always leave the punters wanting more.
