Review: 'SENNEN'
'VULTURES/ HOLDING ON FOR YOU (10" vinyl)'

-  Label: 'INDELABEL'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '5th March 2012'

Our Rating:
This is the first single release from Sennen’s forthcoming (third) album Lost Harmony which is released this month on the new imprint Indelabel. Sennen is a four piece comprising of Larry Holmes on vocals/guitar/keys, Rich Kelleway on guitar/vocals, James Brown on drums and Tim Kelleway on bass.

The two tracks here fall broadly within the indie rock category. opening track, ‘Vultures’ as a motorik riff and is bass heavy, with the vocals shrouded in echo. I really liked this one, with its repetitive lyrics that worm their way into the brain, such that after a few plays, you felt like you knew the song: “Pockets full of gold, pockets full of gold, and we ride, and we ride/Into the night.”

The other track on this item ‘Holding on for You’, is slower, brooding, and Larry’s vocals sound completely desolate in parts, with a heavy sadness that is expressed really well: - “I’m afraid to understand, I am a hollow man.”

This translates really well to the track, and if this is a foretaste of the album, then it will be very good indeed. This is definitely worth having.
