Review: 'Zoltar Speaks'
'Treatment (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '11th June 2012'

Our Rating:
There’s plenty of chug and grunt to the guitars on this four-song debut, and singer Louise Body delivers robust, full-throated vocals, simultaneously managing to hold a melody and deliver a hook while packing a mean punch.

Refreshingly, Zoltar Speaks don’t piss about with fretwanky solos, and don’t pander to the fashion for a screaming roar of unintelligible backing vocals, and instead deliver no-messin’ metal – at least not until the title track that comes at the end, when they break all of the cardinal rules of cool. With some gently melodious picked clean guitar, a twiddly solo, contrasting BV’s, it’s production line modern metal… and yet somehow it works. Damn!
