SANGUINE are a new Female fronted Metal act and this free EP you can download from the band's website has been released to coincide with their current live shows this weekend (just gone) at the Download Festival and opening for Megadeth at the Electric Ballroom in Camden.
The opening track Simplify comes raging out of the speakers at full throttle attacking your ears with raging guitars and screamed vocals before the storm subsides and the vocals come in to tell us there is a wish to Simplify before the guitars and screams start raging again. It's a brief respite.
Bangkok Nights starts with angry as all hell guitars and screams that lead to a middle section like Daisy Chainsaw bitching about life working in a Thai brothel and what you have to deal with while all around is a raging storm of guitars and shrieks and yelps: a real intoxicating brew of a song that leaps from the quiet to loud very effectively.
Days Outnumbered is a grungey pop tune with whispered vocals that reminds me of 90's band Little Hell with a fine rumbling riff that is also a bit Stone Fox.

From Home has late night, low lights, whispered in your ear vocals with Anathema-style chilled guitars. It does its slow building rock tune thing well, rising and falling with Tarrin Kerrey's vocals full of presence. It's a real grower of a song.
The closing track Paradise is another builder wherein Tarrin tells us what happens on days like these. It also has a good part where they slow everything down and you think everything might be okay until you realise she is singing about screaming for the rest of your life. This certainly needs listening to a few times to get inside it, but once there it's surely worth the effort.
