Well it’s not every day you see a rock band citing Biffy Clyro as a leading influence, is it? Oh yeah, it is. Not that I’ve anything against the Biffy: the beardy, tattood scots produce a respectable racket, but many of the acts who attempt to emulate them do not. In fairness, ATQO are better than most, and this is a massive improvement on their last release.
The powerchords have some simmering afterburn and there’s a ‘big’ feel to the sound. The slower chorus, with it’s lighter-waving chant of show me your heart’ is a bit lame, but it suddenly changes direction for an explosive finish that’s pleasantly surprising.

There’s a hint of MSP – duelling with Metallica – about ‘Ghost’ and a deluge of guitar hits in the chorus. It’s timing and execution is spot on.
These guys have evidently been working hard and now seem much closer to where the want to be in terms of delivering the music they threaten: good on ‘em.
