The blander the album, the more difficult the review. Consequently, I’ve been wrestling with Waterslide’s ‘Lincoln Signal’ for what feels like an eternity, and is in reality a good couple of months or so.
And after all the slog, what do I got? I’m practically empty-handed. Waterslide have successfully produced an album of aural chewing gum. ‘Off Grid On Target’ is built around a riff half-inched from ‘Louie Louie’, minus a chord. Still, it’s garage feel and echo-heavy vocals rock it pretty nicely, and... well, it’s the best track on the album, which is pretty forgettable in the main.
