Review: 'Waterson, Marry & Oliver Knight'
'Hidden'

-  Album: 'Hidden' -  Label: 'One Little Indian'
-  Genre: 'Folk'

Our Rating:
‘I’m in a mood / I’m in a rage / I’m in a shocking state of grace / I’m so annoyed with myself / I’m frustrated and no-one can help’ So begins ‘I’m in a Mood’, the first song on ‘Hidden’. Marry does sound a bit wound up, but as far as rage goes, she manages to keep it in check enough to hold a melody over the delicate acoustic picking that provides the musical backdrop to her venting.

Stylistically, ‘Hidden’ swings between folk and jazz leanings, with new single ‘Gormandizer’ having a laid-back feel that places a contemporary twist into a traditional folk setting. The moods and styles vary, but throughout the tone is tuneful and melodic and pleasant on the ear.
