We must admit - when we first clicked play on Bobii Lewis' 'Cut Me Some Slack' video we weren't entirely sure. The introduction doesn't have an immediate beat, and the 'whoa' vocal seemed a little weak and disappointing.
Once the beat and initial hook kicked in though, it was clear there was more to this track than it first seemed. The chorus is catchy and well performed, a good attempt to give the listener something to return to in their mind.
The real strength of this track though comes in the rapped verses, delivered with convition and lyrical dexterity - finally putting a lie to the 'weak' opening (which, once you've listened a couple of times, becomes less of an issue in context).
This is the work of a promising Urban artist, with the single out at the end of the month. We wish him good luck.
