From the bottom up, this debut single from Berenice Scott is a beautiful introduction to a new female singer-songwriter.
It's a piano based pop track from the school of Sarah McLachlan and her ilk - flowing, well produced, layered, but deceptively straight-forward. It might not grab you and shake you on first listen, but give it a chance and it will grow and grow.
The vocal seems light at first, but becomes more powerful as the song continues. The drum part too adds to the momentum - a more complex part than it seems, chugging away and holding up everything else without ever breaking into the foreground.
This is lovely stuff, one of my top tracks of the year so far.
