Danish duo AyOwA have been building some momentum and have received some respectable exposure of late, with prominent mainland European festival appearances, national UK radio airplay, and coverage in the print press.
The promo promises that despite the song being sung in Danish, it nevertheless has ‘a certain universal and dreaming approach’, and we learn that ‘AyOwA combines noise pop with electronica and melodies with improvisation, in an evocative and playful mix’.
Shimmering, brittle washes of pastel-shade guitars trace contrails across a rippling synth, bulbus sequenced bass and laid-back beats. Dreamy is indeed the word which best summarises this lightly-whipped blend of post-'Disintegration' shoegaze and electro-dub, and it carries the listener on a slow groove towards a state that’s quite soporific - in a good way.
